Factory Direct Steel Arch Buildings
Looking for a Steel Building Quonset Hut? Steel Arch Buildings provides versatile, durable, and affordable steel arch buildings to a variety of different customers with different needs. Our arch system is based off of a historical structure named after the town Quonset Point, Rhode Island, known as the “Quonset Hut.”
A Quonset hut is explained as “a lightweight pre-fabricated structure made of corrugated galvanized steel or iron.” This structure was developed in 1941 by the U.S. Navy, who needed an all-purpose and lightweight building that could be shipped almost anywhere and assembled without any skilled labor. The original building was 16ft x 36ft with corrugated steel sheets as the side walls. The end walls were plywood and contained windows and doors, and the inside was insulated and had wooden floors. This would allow the structure to be placed on almost any surface such as concrete, wood, or an organic ground surface. The Quonset hut was used for barracks, latrines, offices, medical and dentistry offices, isolation wards and housing.
Our steel buildings are constructed on the same premise of the original Quonset hut. We understand that our customers need the most durable steel building structures that are lightweight, guaranteed to last, and easy to assemble. The curved structure of the Quonset hut is where we find the most influential aspects in our buildings, as it allows for a clear-span of 100% usable space. Steel Building Quonset Hut structures have stuck around for a reason!
